On May 16, BYD officially announced that its European headquarters will be established in Hungary. Zhou Xinjian, Vice President of CEATEC, attended the ceremony.
According to the announcement, BYD's European headquarters will be located in the 11th district of Budapest, Hungary, which is situated near the Danube River and benefits from its positioning as a transportation hub and industrial cluster. The headquarters will house three core functions: sales and after-sales services, vehicle certification and testing, and localized vehicle design and functional development. It is expected to create thousands of job opportunities. In the field of R&D, BYD's European headquarters will initially focus on in-depth research in intelligent assisted driving technology and next-generation vehicle electrification technologies. In the future, BYD will collaborate with at least three Hungarian universities on joint research and work together with local suppliers and enterprises to upgrade the new energy vehicle industrial chain. The establishment of BYD's European headquarters further strengthens the localization of products and services, deepens brand influence, and serves as a model for practical cooperation between China and Central Europe under the BRI initiative. BYD officials stated that last year, the company retained its position as the global leader in new energy vehicle sales with 4.27 million vehicles sold. This year, while continuing to develop globally with high quality, BYD has made significant breakthroughs in key European markets such as the UK and Italy, with sales steadily increasing. Looking ahead, BYD will continue to expand its presence in the European market and collaborate with local high-quality partners to build a smart, green transportation ecosystem, contributing to global energy transformation and sustainable development.
Wang Chuanfu, Chairman and President of BYD, stated: "The establishment of BYD's European headquarters marks the deep integration of BYD with the local automotive industry in Hungary. This is not only an important milestone in BYD's international development but also demonstrates the unlimited potential of China-Hungary cooperation, further solidifying our determination for long-term development in Europe.”
